Comic shortcuts?

I stumbled across this, via surreptitious link-surfing:

A fantastic blog entry. Why? Well, there's a few reasons:

* Here is a guy that heard about a "Holy Grail", bought it, and has now put it into the public domain.
* It has a backstory that he's explained adequately, retaining some of the mystique around the item, but stating enough of the relevant facts for you to feel like you know what has happened.
* 22 Panels That Always Work! It's a great concept. Can we distill any other "black arts" down to this sort of level? Have they been, and us poor schmuck outsiders don't know about it?
* Comic books are cool.

Musings from Toyota Rally SA 2006

I was fortunate enough to be ferried across to Tanunda for Toyota Rally SA, the penultimate round of the NEC Australian Rally Championship. Whilst on the surface of it, it was just another rally, there was an undercurrent of change with the recent changes in Australian rallying.

The VirginBlue flight across was uninteresting (CBR-MEL-ADL), but on the Melbourne stop-over, I ran into the event checker, and ended up catching a ride with him back to the Event Headquarters.

The Barossa Valley is gorgeous. Even in this time of drought, it was green and lush, and beautiful to behold. It is the kind of place I'd love to take my wife on a weekend away.

There was various schmoozing and discussions. In my (now) usual fashion, I harangued (sometimes unsuspecting) victims, and subjected them to my tirades about various aspects of the sport of rallying, it's current and future direction, it's rules and regulations, and sometimes, about where certain people fitted into the picture.

It was enjoyable weekend, the event was great, the presentation dinner pretty bluddy average, and my hang-over surprisingly good.

Another successful weekend.
